Creating Magic
Faeries, like their human counterparts, come in an endless variety of different sizes and appearances. When it comes to their housing needs, they similarly have unique styles and preferences.
Some woodsy sprites may prefer the natural look of a hollow tree home. I build these from branches, bark and stones, then personalize with colorful wooden doors and shutters for the windows. Preserved mosses, silk flowers, and found objects add individuality. I make replicas of mushrooms and toadstools to remind the inhabitants of their forest home.
Other Fae folk prefer to model their homes on those of humans. For those clients I often use an unfinished wooden birdhouse as a base and embellish it with preserved moss, floral accents and bits of found objects. On the home to the far right I have used the "petals" from pine cones as roof shingles.
A Note about those "found objects": Faeries love to borrow human things and put them to use in unexpected ways. (And by "borrow", I mean take!) A missing earring may have caught the fancy of a passing Faerie and ended up as a knob for a tiny door. I use (legally obtained) junk jewelry and odd bits and pieces on many of my creations.
Then there are those faeries who yearn for something truly unique. These Fae folk are drawn to houses made from teapots, pumpkins, pitchers, or anything that catches my eye at a flea market or yard sale.
Some Faerie houses glow! It may look like a firefly is visiting but the secret is a battery-operated line of miniature lights.
At Spritely Shelters you will also find Faerie themed wreaths and scenes of Fae life.
Faerie Houses and More...
In addition to Faerie homes I offer beds and thrones for your favorite Faerie, scenes of Fae life, and wreaths.
Teacup Faerie scenes can bring a bit of Fae to your home!
Not every member of the Fae is sweetness and light. Some embrace the Dark and identify as part of the Unseelie Court of the Fae. Spritely Shelters offers items to appeal to the Goth or Dark Side Faerie.
Goth Fae Vanity Tables
On the subject of Dark, Spritely Shelters also has homes for that anti-Santa, The Krampus.
